DIRECTV charged penalty for unauthorized contract - DirecTV service


I opened a DIRECTV account years ago. In the past year my husband added a contract to the account, unbeknownst to me. We are divorcing and I want to change the account to his name, since he is remaining in the home. DIRECTV would not do this. I have to close my account and he needs to open his own account. They have proof he made the account change and I never added him as an authorized user when he added the contract to our account. I have to pay a $300 penalty for breaking a contract I never authorized. Meanwhile my soon to be ex-husband is adding more contractual fees to my account, and I am the only one who is financially liable. As a single mom I cannot afford cable, and certainly $300 is a lot of money to me. I have been placed in a financial bind by a company I trusted.
