DIRECTV horrible customer service


We have had nothing but trouble with DirecTV customer service. We have spent hours and hours on the phone in repeated attempts to resolve the three issues we have had with them in the year we have used their service. First, we did not get the ability to use direct cinema when we started using the service, and it was weeks, a half-dozen calls and a service visit to get it resolved. Then, they called us to sell us a new service, telling us we would get some sports channels we wanted. We didn't get the channels, we made numerous calls, spending hours on the phone, resetting this and checking that, before the fourth or fifth person we talked to checked the list and told us the salesperson was wrong, the channels we wanted were not part of the package. When that person "fixed" the problem by setting us back to the "way we were," she also discontinued out whole-house DVR, and that took three more calls totalling about two more hours to resolve. I have no respect for DirecTV and its customer service department. I am sure there are good, intelligent people working there, yet their leadership must be horrible. We will dump them as soon as we can do so without some huge fee. There must be something better, because I do not see how it could get worse.
I would like to think a DirecTV executive would read this, but it is clear they don't even read their own email. I sent them one about these issues, and the response email was all about their dispute with Viacom. As far as I am concerned, it is just two big corporations battling each other to see who gets more of our money. In the end, executives on both sides will get big bonuses and we will get hosed.
