Direct tv stole money out of my bank account - Direct tv auto bill pay


In October of 2011 I signed up as a new customer with Direct tv. They instantly game me many free promotions as a new customer. My job was to cancel those free promotions when the deadline was up to avoid any reoccuring charges to my bank account. As per Direct tv, I did call and cancel all of my free promotions in January of 2012. Since that time instead of having a consistant monthly bill, my bill fluctuates dramatically month to month. This month however, I was shocked to see a debit taken from my bank in the amount of 350.41. I instantly called direct tv to find out why. They said I had been automatically charged for the NFL season ticket that I did not request. I told them to cancel it, that I did not authorize that service nor did I authorize the money be taken from my bank account. I also insisted that they return the money back to my bank account. The reason being is that the money they took (350.41) was the total amount that I had in the bank. Their debit left me at a zero balance. I also had bills that I had paid through my bank account a day earlier trying to process. Needless to say after the money was taken, some of my other charges bounced, causing mulitple overdraft fees. My power payment did not process so now I have a 48 hour shut off notice pending. My car insurance payment bounced so I have no insurance on my car. I have been sitting with a negative bank account status in the amount of -201.77. Still have multiple calls to Direct tv, they will not return my money, they will only credit my account. I dont care if I have television service, I need my money back to pay my bills, rent, and avoid loosing my electricity. I am a single mother of two toddlers, I depend on every penny I earn and I dont plan to have my money held hostage. I am writing this to let whomever is interested know what I have been through in the past week. I am very upset and angry. I feel violated, it is a sorry day when a large corporation can pray upon the average working individual and have no remorse. All I want is my money back in my bank account! Consider this a warning for those about to enroll in auto bill pay. Please dont do it!

This same thing happened to me. My service started September 2013. I called to cancel the free HBO, Cinemax, etc, within the proper allotted time, but they still charged me at the end of the 3 mnths. I did not budget for this increase, so fell behind on my payment. Directv then cancelled my service and stole over $800 from my checking account, for an early termination fee (for services I Did NOT Cancel, overdrafting my account over $300. When I called Dtv to inquire what this charge was for, I was"forced under duress" to reactivate service with them (although at this point I wanted nothing to do with them) But "had" to, in order to receive back "part" of the stolen money. (They say the contract states they can steal money from your account, but I was tricked into signing a contract under the lie that I was signing a paper saying the receivers were the property of Dtv and had to be returned upon cancellation of service, and was never given a copy of anycontract) At the time I was forced to reactivate the service, it started fresh the two year contract...so I'm stuck with these theives until April of 2016. I hate Directv...my finances are still a disaster. Who knew a frggn cable bill could ruin your life, bs. My thanks to them is that for the rest of my life, long after this 2 yr contract ends, I will spread the word about what low life, thieving scum they are. I'm payin $110 mnth right now, because they tacked on the NFL package, which I did not order...I could still be with time warner with phone, internet, and cable for $79.99 mnth. I hate myself for ever getting involved with these crooks.
