Military orders and still charged - Awful Customer Service


I am currently stationed at Ft Benning GA in the Columbus GA area and got direct TV, not only do they not get local channels but 2 days after getting it installed I got orders to deploy. My wife called direct TV to cancel our service because of my orders. The representative on the phone told her there would be no cancellation fee, turns out 5 days later she gets 424 dollars taken out of her account. I called Direct TV and they told me they would have to investigate the matter which could take 14-21 days. On top of that we are out 424 dollars. Military me dont mbers dont make that much keep in mind. What do they have to investigate? The fact that I have military orders and am leaving, give me a break. They care about people let alone soldiers.

DITTO! US TOO! They are charing us 200 for d/c and active duty family of 10 1/2 years here. NEVER AGAIN will I use them!

Im in the military too and I am currently getting screwed over by Direct TV as well. I had their service in my house before I left for deployment and called to cancel but couldnt cancel without a 180$ fee bc i had a 2 yr contract but I was told I could suspend it. SO I did that. That was in december and apparently they turned the service back on in June (now it is october and I am still not home) Therefore I am being charged for months of service that I have not had tv or even a place to have a tv. I called to confront them and they told me they only suspend for 6 months and there was nothing they could to do help me unless I restart service. I asked how am I to restart service with no where to put the tv? So now I stuck with a 350$ bill for something I can't even use!
