My contract was extended for 2yrs when a receiver that my nephew gave me was put on my account. At no time was I notified about the extension. When I cancelled my account I was told I will be charged early termination fees. I'm currently suffering because I just got a letter telling me I owe directv $783.00.

My wife got involved with Directv, and they NEVER could get her monthly bill right, consistently OVERCHARGING her by as much as 180 in a month, MORE than the advertised price that got her to sign up for their service. Personally, I believe they are guilty of false advertising. EVERY month she would have to call and spend an hour or two on the phone trying to get the bill adjusted correctly. Then the next month it would all start over again. After nearly a year of the frustration and emotional distress this was causing her, she cancelled her 2 year contract. Now they are seeking another $250 early cancellation fees, which would not have been an issue if they had lived up to their word in the first place!At present I am preparing to file complaints with Better Business Bureaus and one with the Indiana Attorney General's Office and another with the FCC. They advertised one price but consistently charged far, far more, then when she got tired of the BS they act like she is in the wrong for cancelling their alleged "service." She has a letter from them with the headline that reads, "Congratulations, your Directv experience has begun." We have struck a line through experience and replaced it with NIGHTMARE. WARNING to any family and friends I may have on Facebook - READ people's complaints about this company BEFORE accepting their service!
