would not give me services

I just called to order direct tv was on the phone for over a hour and they told me I was denied because my mom had direct tv and owed 200 dollars back in 2006. at the time I didn't even live with her I was just marred and on my own I did live in the house a year before in 2005. it really pissed me of considering that should have nothing to do with me it wasn't my bill and I never lived with her the time she had it. my mom was upset and called them to for giving out her info they should have never told me the balance due. can they even so this?
