Remote button configuration - Genie reciever

Let me start off by saying that after 20 years with Dish I made the change to Direct TV because it was literally half the price for the same channels. So, the Genie DVR was installed in my home with no issues at all.
I anticipated that the channel change processing would be slower than dish, I also anticipated that I might have a little more interference during storms, and i was correct on both accounts, but this was a small price to pay for saving $65 a month. What I did not anticipate was how nonsensical and

UN-intuitive the remote control for the Genie DVR and it functionality would

be. Mincing no words; I watch a LOT of TV, and when I am watching I frequently do laundry, take a quick shower or take my dogs for a short walk, this is when I like to pause the programming so I can fast forward through the commercials when I get return my viewing. The problem is that the fast forward button is directly under the previous channel button and I frequently end up hitting the previous channel button and loose all of my saved up time and miss any of the programming that played during that time. Unlike Dish, it does not notify you that you are going to change to live television to give you a choice if you really want to do it or not. The other configuration issue is that the guide button (probably the most frequently used button) is right below the power button so almost the exact same thing happens, I'll have a lot of time saved up so I can fast forward through commercials and sometimes I just want to see whats on the other channels before I change it and willingly give up that saved time, but my finger accidentally hits the power button and poof, all of the time I've saved up is gone!
These issues may not be the most significant that people experience with Direct TV, but they are enough to make me consider changing back to Dish, I am 99.9% sure that I will once my year discount period is up. There is no way I would pay the same price for something that ruins so many of my would be enjoyable TV watching experiences.
To me these seem like very self evident things when your dealing with a frequently used remote control, but maybe not.

Hope in AZ
